Copthorne News

Here at Copthorne we have lots of interesting things happening. Below are some of the exciting things to look out for!

EYFS Outdoor Area Revamp

The EYFS team are hard at work updating their outdoor area. They have purchased lots of lovely new resources and are currently busy putting them together ready for the Reception children to enjoy. We will post a before and after picture when it's completed. Take a look at some of the things that have been built so far!

We have recently made a big purchase for the school, 15 iPads! This is very exciting for us because we only have a few computers in each class at the minute. We are looking forward to using them in Computing lessons and also to support our performances in writing. Miss Edwards has ordered us a green screen so that we can transform the background of the videos we film, how exciting! Watch this space to see some of the children's work using the iPads.

Gardening and EYFS Forest School

Mrs Hodge (one of the Forest School Leaders) will be joining us on a Tuesday and a Wednesday afternoon. On a Tuesday she will be taking the Reception children out onto our grounds to take part in Forest School activities. On a Wednesday she will be gardening with a year group at a time. They will be planting lots of lovely things to grow and use in the kitchen like potatoes, carrots and herbs. Have a look below at the children hard at work!

Travel Smart

Between the 25th of March and the 5th of April Mrs Bayliss is recording how many children cycle, walk or scoot to school. This is all part of the Big Pedal 2019 which encourages children to actively make their way to and from school. The top schools have the opportunity to win prizes and this will also go towards us achieving our Bronze Travel Smart Award, how exciting!
